Send emails and attachments from Outlook to Docketwise

Overview

Docketwise integrates with Outlook so that you can send emails and attachments directly from Outlook to Docketwise.

With this integration, you can save these messages and attachments directly to a Contact and Matter within Docketwise.

Activating the Outlook Email Add-in

Getting Started

Before you get started, you must make sure of the following:

  1. You are logged in to your Docketwise Account and also are logged in to and have open your Outlook account

  2. Your administrator has enabled Add-ins to be installed in Outlook or Office 365

  3. You have downloaded the most recent updates for Outlook Email Desktop App (if using this option)

Activating via the Outlook Email Web App

To activate the integration using the Outlook Email Web App, you will need to follow the instructions below:

  1. Open any email from within Outlook

  2. Click the (…) 3 horizontal dots in the top-right corner of the message

  3. Select the option for Get Add-ins

  4. Search for Docketwise in the search bar

  5. Click the Add button for the Docketwise Add-in

  6. Exit the add-in set up window

  7. Click on the Docketwise Add-in icon from within any email

  8. Click Connect Docketwise, then Allow, and finally Authorize

Activating via the Outlook Email Desktop App

  1. Click the Browse Add-ins button

  2. Search for Docketwise in the search bar

  3. Click the Add button for the Docketwise Add-in

  4. Exit the add-in set up window

  5. Click on the Docketwise Add-in icon

  6. Click Connect Docketwise, then Allow, and finally Authorize


Using the Outlook Email Add-in

After connecting, the Docketwise-Outlook integration will automatically connect the email sender to a Contact in Docketwise, showing them and their related Matter(s) as suggestions.

Saving Emails/Attachments via the Outlook Email Web App

In order to save the email and/or attachment(s) from the Outlook Email Web App to Docketwise, you will need to follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the Docketwise Add-in icon from within the email that you would like to save

    1. After clicking the Docketwise Add-in icon, the integration will automatically show the sender of the email of the sender their matters as suggestions

    2. If the sender of the email is not the Primary Contact of the Matter where you wish to save the Email and/or Attachment, you will need to search for and select the Matter's Primary contact using the Outlook Add-in

  2. Once the correct options are selected, simply click the Save Email button to save the email as a Message and the Save Attachments button to save the attachment(s) as Files in Docketwise under the selected Matter and Contact

In order to save the email and/or attachment(s) from the Outlook Email Web App to Docketwise, you will need to follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the Docketwise Add-in icon from within the email that you would like to save

    1. After clicking the Docketwise Add-in icon, the integration will automatically show the sender of the email of the sender their matters as suggestions

    2. If the sender of the email is not the Primary Contact of the Matter where you wish to save the Email and/or Attachment, you will need to search for and select the Matter's Primary contact using the Outlook Add-in

  2. Once the correct options are selected, simply click the Save Email button to save the email as a Message and the Save Attachments button to save the attachment(s) as Files in Docketwise under the selected Matter and Contact


Troubleshooting

If you are experiencing difficulties connecting your Outlook add-in to Docketwise through the Web, please try logging out of both accounts (Docketwise and Outlook), clearing cookies, and logging back in.

For connection issues with the Desktop Outlook Add-in please log out of both Docketwise and Outlook and log back in by manually entering your email and password, do not use the autocomplete.
