How Zapier Works

Zapier is an online automation tool that connects your apps and lets you automate processes by creating Zaps with a Trigger event and a subsequent Action event (or events).

  • A Zap is simply an automation created in Zapier, which is initiated by a Trigger event and causing subsequent Actions.

    • A Trigger is an event that happens in one app, which will activate the Zap

    • A subsequent Action is an event that will will take place within a designated and connected app after the Zap has been triggered

Another way to think of it is: When this (trigger) happens do that (action).

To get a basic understand of creating a Zap, we encourage you to watch Zapier's video on this below (we could imagine, hypothetically, as a new contact being created in Docketwise as the trigger, which then emails the contact a thank you letter):

Additionally, Zaps can be made to sync creations and updates of contacts in Docketwise with the Zapier Application of your choice.

In the example below, a Zap is created between Docketwise and Google Sheets, using Zapier. In this example, once a new contact is created in Docketwise it will create a new row in Google Sheets:

These are only a couple examples of what can be done among the many possibilities. To learn more about using Zapier, we encourage you to access the following resources provided by Zapier:
