Track your immigrant petition with the priority date

Overview

Docketwise tracks the priority date of an immigrant petition for you and we update the cutoff dates from the Visa Bulletin just before the beginning of each month.

Once you have entered the Priority Date and Preference Category, this feature will inform you whether or not the priority date is current and send you an in-app notification under the bell icon in Docketwise.

Setting Priority Date Tracking

Priority Date Tracking may be set when creating a matter or by editing a Matter that is already made.

When Creating a New Matter

To set Priority Date Tracking when creating a new Matter, you will need to follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Create New ▼ button from your Docketwise Dashboard

  2. Select the the Priority Date and Preference Category

  3. Click the Create Matter → button

Updating an Existing Matter

In order to set a Priority Date Tracking after the Matter it is already created, you will need to follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the Matter for which you would like to set a Matter Type

  2. Click on the Update Matter Details link

  3. Select the the Priority Date and Preference Category

  4. Click the Update Matter → button


Viewing Priority Date Tracking

Once Priority Date and Preference Category are entered, you are able to start tracking the Priority Date's status.

From within the Case Tracking tab of the Matter Overview Page or the Contact Overview Page for the Matter's Primary Contact, you can see the real time status of the Priority Date Tracking.

Reporting with Priority Date Tracking

In report on Priority Date Tracking, you will need to follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Create New ▼ button from your Docketwise Dashboard

  2. Click the Report option

After running this report, you are able to see all Matters that have a Priority Date and Preference Category, grouped by their Preference Category.

In this report, you can easily reference which Matters have a current or non-current Priority Date.
