Overview

Docketwise's Trust Accounting ledger simplifies your trust accounting processes and gives you a deeper look at your trust accounting by showing you:

  1. An overview of trust account balances (for funds held at the matter level and client level as well as funds in each trust bank account).

  2. A granular breakdown of all trust transactions that have taken place (for transactions at the matter level and client level as well as transactions in each trust bank account).

How it Works

As mentioned above, the Trust Accounting Ledger in Docketwise allows you to get an overview of trust account balances as well as see a granular breakdown of all trust account transactions.

In the trust accounting overview tabs, you get the overview of the different trust account balances.

By clicking on a trust account in the overview, you will be taken you to a detailed transactions view, where you can see a granular breakdown of the trust account transactions of that particular trust account.

Trust Accounting Overview Tabs

The Trust Accounting Ledger allows you to see the balance for funds held at the matter level and client level as well as funds in each trust bank account and is broken into 3 different Overview tab, which are:

  1. Firm Level Accounts: This view shows you the balance of each trust-type bank account on your firm's account.

  2. Matter Level Accounts: This view shows you the balance for each matter-level trust sub-account. Only matters with a drafted Trust Request at the matter-level or with trust transactions at the matter-level will be shown.

  3. Client Level Accounts: This view shows you the balance for each client-level trust sub-account. Only clients with a drafted Trust Request at the client-level or with trust transactions at the client-level will be shown.

Trust Accounting Overview Tab Filters

In each of the overview tabs, you will find different filters such as trust account balance and the associated client that will help you find what you are looking for.

Detailed Transactions View

You can also see a granular breakdown of all trust transactions that have taken place (for transactions at the matter level and client level as well as transactions in each trust bank account).

Here, you will see all trust transactions related to that particular trust account or sub-account, including information about the date of the each transaction, its transaction type, description, amount, payment DW ID, and more.
