Send emails and attachments from Outlook to Docketwise

Overview

Docketwise integrates with Outlook so that you can send emails and attachments directly from Outlook to Docketwise.

With this add-in, you can save these messages and attachments directly to a contact and matter within Docketwise.

Activating the Outlook Email Add-in

Getting Started

Before you get started, you must make sure of the following:

  1. You are logged in to your Docketwise Account and also are logged in to and have open your Outlook account

  2. Your administrator has enabled Add-ins to be installed in Outlook or Office 365

  3. You have downloaded the most recent updates for Outlook Email Desktop App (if using this option)

Activating the Add-in via the Outlook Email Web App

To activate the integration using the Outlook Email Web App, you will need to follow the instructions below:

  1. Open any email from within Outlook

  2. Click the (…) 3 horizontal dots in the top-right corner of the message

  3. Select the option for Get Add-ins

  4. Search for Docketwise in the search bar

  5. Click the Add button for the Docketwise Add-in

  6. Exit the add-in set up window

  7. Click on the Docketwise Add-in icon from within any email

  8. Click Connect Docketwise, then Allow, and finally Authorize

Activating the Add-in via the Outlook Email Desktop App

  1. Click the Browse Add-ins button

  2. Search for Docketwise in the search bar

  3. Click the Add button for the Docketwise Add-in

  4. Exit the add-in set up window

  5. Click on the Docketwise Add-in icon

  6. Click Connect Docketwise, then Allow, and finally Authorize


Using the Outlook Email Add-in

To start using the Outlook Email Add-in to save emails and attachments in Docketwise, you will want to open the email that you wish to save and click on the Docketwise add-oi icon.

Selecting a Contact

After opening the Docketwise add-in, the Docketwise-Outlook integration will automatically connect the email sender to a contact in Docketwise and show them as a suggested contact! If you need to change the suggested contact to another, simply search for and select a different contact.

Selecting a Matter

If the selected contact has any matters, these will be listed below that contact. If you wish to save an email/attachment to a specific matter under the contact, simply select that matter.

Saving an Email

After selecting the contact/matter under which you wish to save the email, simply click the Save this email as a message button and the email will be saved as a message under the selected contact/matter.

Saving Attachments

If you wish to save the attachments under a specific folder for the contact/matter, you can select the folder before saving. Please note that sub-folder cannot currently be selected.

After selecting the contact/matter/folder under which you wish to save the attachment(s), simply select the attachments you wish to save and click the Save Attachments button.


Troubleshooting

If you are experiencing difficulties connecting your Outlook add-in to Docketwise through the Web, please try logging out of both accounts (Docketwise and Outlook), clearing cookies, and logging back in.

For connection issues with the Desktop Outlook Add-in please log out of both Docketwise and Outlook and log back in by manually entering your email and password, do not use the autocomplete.
